Hypostomus cochliodon is an armoured catfish which originates from South America.[1][3] The species is kept in home aquaria, although they may be difficult to find because export from Brazil is limited.

H. cochliodon have been recorded as reaching 17-23 cm in length.[1][4]

Unlike some other Loricariidae, this fish specialised in eating wood instead of plant or algae matter.[5]
